Spatial Studies

Research-driven explorations into space, material and atmosphere.

Spatial Studies is where Zepa Studio investigates space as a thinking practice.
These works are not projects, but inquiries — testing how atmosphere, material and proportion shape spatial experience.

The Quiet Room — Spatial Study

In this study, silence is treated not as absence, but as a spatial condition.
The Quiet Room explores how light, material restraint and emptiness influence perception before use.

Micro Spatial Study

Small-scale spatial investigations focusing on transitions, thresholds and material shifts.
These studies operate between object and interior.

Material & Light Study

An ongoing exploration of how material surfaces respond to natural and controlled light.
Texture, reflection and shadow are treated as spatial elements.

Some studies remain theoretical.
Others become interiors.

Spatial Studies is a space for conceptual interior explorations.

Here, Zepa Studio investigates atmosphere, material and volume
outside the constraints of function, client or program

These studies do not aim to resolve space,
but to question how it is perceived, felt and remembered.

Spatial Studies, kavramsal iç mekân araştırmaları için ayrılmış bir alandır.

Zepa Studio burada atmosferi, malzemeyi ve hacmi;
işlev, kullanıcı ya da program kısıtlarından bağımsız olarak ele alır.

Bu çalışmalar mekânı çözmeyi değil,
nasıl algılandığını, hissedildiğini ve hatırlandığını sorgular.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere is approached as the primary design condition.

Light, shadow and silence are treated as spatial tools,
shaping perception before form is introduced.

These studies focus on slowing down experience,
allowing space to be felt rather than consumed.

Material

Materials are explored beyond their physical properties.

Stone, wood and textile are considered as carriers of memory,
capable of altering the emotional weight of a space.

In Spatial Studies, material does not decorate —
it communicates.

Volume

Space is examined through volume rather than plan.

Proportion, scale and void define how a body moves,
pauses and orients itself within an interior.

These studies prioritize spatial clarity over visual complexity.

Threshold

Thresholds are understood as moments of transition.

Between inside and outside,
light and shadow,
stillness and movement.

These in-between conditions form the conceptual bridge
between Spatial Studies and the Eşik platform.
Spatial Studies inform the interior projects of Zepa Studio, shaping spaces before they are built.
